Zoë began working at the Down Syndrome Centre Cork in 2022. She supports children and their siblings with their emotional wellbeing through play therapy.

Zoë is passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where children can explore their feelings. She follows a non-directive approach to play therapy, allowing each child to lead at their own pace.

What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a therapeutic approach that helps children understand and express their feelings. As play is a child’s natural form of communication, it allows them to explore emotions, experiences and challenges in a way that feels safe and accessible, without needing to rely on words.

Through play, children can express needs, fears and wishes, while also working through emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Zoë works with children aged 3–12 years. Sessions take place at the same time each week to provide consistency and routine, and she is based at the Centre on Mondays.
